Seth (or Set) is an ancient Egyptian god associated with chaos, deserts, storms, and disorder. He is often depicted as a figure with the head of a mysterious, unidentified animal, sometimes called the "Set animal." Seth is best known for his conflict with his brother Osiris, whom he killed, leading to a struggle with Osiris's son Horus for the throne of Egypt. Despite his role as a god of chaos and destruction, Seth also played a protective role, especially in defending the sun god Ra against the serpent Apophis. Seth represents the necessary balance between order and chaos in the universe.
